At Danish Teak Classics, Rescuing Mid-Century Furniture Piece by Piece

Steven Swanson rescues furniture. Every year, the owner of Danish Teak Classics in Minneapolis ventures to Denmark, where he roams the countryside, plucking mid-century pieces from barns, back rooms and attics.

Swanson packs his forlorn treasures into huge crates and ships them over the ocean to his workshop in Minneapolis. Master craftsmen carefully rehabilitate each piece, teasing out the details that make each item special.

Fully restored, these modern classics go in display in the Danish Teak Classics showroom, where they await new owners and their perfect new homes.

In this Modern Showcase segment, Swanson gives us a peek into the process that brings these wonderful pieces back to life.
