George Mahoney loves good design. As the owner and furniture designer behind SOLV and educator at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, it is no wonder that Mahoney appreciates the set design on “Mad Men.”

Mahoney’s own furniture studio, SOLV, focuses on a modern aesthetic. Many of his pieces, including the Kay chair, look like they would blend right into the set of “Mad Men”.

We asked Mahoney to share his favorite set from the show.

"Roger Sterling’s office from the AMC show ‘Mad Men’ is simply beautiful, elegant and as hip today as in the mid-1960s when the show takes place. What works for me most in this scene is the relationship of the white Poul Volther (1923-2001) ‘Corona Chair’ 1964 in front of the Bridget Riley (1931) ‘Op Art’ inspired painting as created for the show. The painting style stems from the study of light and vision, creating optical patterns. The Corona Chair provides a visual calmness contrasting the painting through positive and negative space"
